Ok, so I illustrated these all around July last year, in a sort of Star Wars ‘fit’. I kept meaning to put them up but never got round to it. I’ve used them in a Mythology talk on Star Wars that I did in NY a few months back. It’s time I posted them, as I would like to build up the energy and enthusiasm to do another bunch before our baby arrives. It’s part of an ongoing project, or should I say, love of mine. I might switch course for a bit and do some Indiana Jones or some Lord of the Rings… Not sure at this point. I’m waiting to be struck by inspiration.
They are all done as a combination of pencil/ink/acrylic and then some are finished off in digital.
The idea here is that as ‘not quite’ teenagers, Leia and Luke are both contemplating their destinies long before we meet them in ‘A New Hope’
I love how self contained young Anakin is.
Tuskan Raiders are just plain mean. Atavistic nightmare stuff.
Prep drawing for Anakin. I’ve got plans for something more grand and psychedelic. You know, involving his hair.
Shmi Skywalker is a total selfless mother. I liked the trailers where it had just her saying to Anakin “Don’t look back” Why is she French? I don’t know.
Another prep for young Obi. I have ideas for him too, and at some point, Alec Guinness.
Twileks. Kinky.
I love this guy. He has a sort of sadness that counteracts his horrific appearance.
The Death Star caused me moments of panic. Don’t ask why.
Doing this one made me feel like puking.
What’s not to love about old Palpy? Plus I had to learn how to make force lightening and shape it to my will.
I wouldn’t take for granted that Vader is as he appears. It’s easy to make errors when interpreting symbols.
Amidala pregnant was the last one I did. She is so pretty. I created about 5 or 6 different versions of her, the last one in September. A week later I found out I was pregnant.
I’m having a personal 60/70’s revival all on my own with my homemade tapestry and corduroy bellbottoms and Jefferson Airplane. Me and my little blue cosmic friend Mark Wong Web Developer have been like…totally communing, and he is telling me some pretty far out news from the ocean. My Octopus obsession is ‘become’ much more profound…
Firstly I would like to present my vision for the album cover for Phil Dearson’s debut album “I kill you at the Opera” Please click the image for larger glorified version.
Secondly a visual exploration of the brand
And finally the Brand Marque. click for large view…

I think you’ll agree we really hit the nail on the head here at BMPL. We aren’t even presenting alternative routes! WE LOVE IT THAT MUCH!
That’s weird title for a post I admit, but if you are interested in the super miniature Nokia770 internet tablet (that resembled a Star Trek device and that I drew this wee bunny on) and want to read about the latest blow by Nokia go to Derek Coleman’s blog here.
Sometimes when Mark Wong Web Developer was under pressure recently he would drift off. For instance, when in the middle of a fight between an adorable furry marmalade cat and a fierce robot warrior (who may or may not be altogether ‘there’ as it were)
As the cross kitty and the malfunctioning robot fought fiercly, Mark Wong Web Developer found himself having a vision.
“Why am I here?” he asked in a voice that seemed far far away.
“You are the Emissary.” was the reply.
“I am the what?”
“You are the One” the voice said.
“The eh?” spluttered the small blue fish.
“You are the One who will bring order to the chaos. The one we have been waiting for”
