    Just a Bit

I just “de-obamaed” the blog. President Elect Obama will not become President until January 20th, 2009.  We understand he has some very hard decisions to make. We will continue to support him.

The real challenge now for Obama, the United States Government and the people that live here is to actually bring about real and lasting change.

For example you might have to be less greedy. You might have to drive and electric car. You might have to consume less energy. You might need to stop feeding the war machine (with money, human bodies, and conflict). There’s lots more things you might have to do.

I live in the US, pay taxes here, and have an American daughter. I’ll do my bit even though I’m not allowed to vote.

I bet Obama is going to ask you to do the same. Your bit.

What is wrong with you people?

You know how Barack Obama was elected president? Yay a victory for civil rights! You know what else people voted on that night in California? They voted on whether or not gay people can get married. You know what happened?

They voted wrong! They made it so gay people aren’t allowed to get married anymore!

How does gay people getting married ruin your straight marriages? How does people pledging to spend their lives together and making it official do anything but strengthen our society?

In a country so concerned with fairness and equity it makes absolutely no sense that you should deny basic civil rights to anyone.

and also, I would like to know, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE????

    A Victory for Intelligence

Barack Obama is the President Elect of United States of America.

    I am terribly relieved.

I am terribly relieved for my daughter, an American by birth and therefore a participant in the democratic experiment that is the United States of America.

I am sad for the stances that public relations and marketing forced John and Cindy McCain into representing things that they do not believe in.

I am sad that such predjudiced and irrational realities inspire so much fear.

I pray that my daughter can live in a world where rational discussion is treasured. Where humanist values are protected and are not dismissed and indicted as a radical threat. Where partipaction in critical discourse is not an indictment.

Allow her that. Where inter-human relationships are based upon rational discourse.

    Please.

    Yes we can!

This message is approved by Senator Miss Baby, leader of Babies for Obama.

    ****UPDATE****

    11pm EST
IT’S PRESIDENT OBAMA TO YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

I’m crying with joy (along with the elated people (and Ewoks) I can hear from the window) Rosie is asleep. I feel such bright hope for her opportunities as a beautiful mixed race American child, blessed to be born in the year of Obama.
