It has been a sort of weird dream week, nothing feels quite real, especially since we arrive under such artificial timing (being awake for 24 hours, sleeping for 4, awake for a few, sleep for a couple sort of thing. Made a friend on the plane. Watched Superman Returns.)
Looked at 3 apartments in Halloween Hoboken. The first one was sparkling, sleek and lovely, but small, the second was dingy, dark but clean.
The third was a Batman set. A restored artisan turn of the century two story brownstone. Ornate rooms, burnished amber floors, shimmering silver metalwork, huge high ceilings, a silent clawed bathtub that is a mermaids sanctuary.
We have just signed the papers on it, hopefully this time tomorrow we will recieve confirmation and will haul our 2 battered boxes and 5 suitcases over to what will be our new home. We have thrown away a huge amount of stuff, we are totally prepared to shed our skin and become Gothamites.
I wish, I wish
I’m reading the novel of Practical Magic which is not as sweetie soft as the film, but is printed on light rough paper and has a horrible cover. However it is about witches and black cats and desperate spells and the worst of all curses, love.
Tomorrow we go to the big Halloween parade in New York. The man in the lobby downstairs just now said
“Go, go to it, go see, it’s a spectacle, it’s an experience. Life is full of possibilities and that freedom is ours to make”

Ohhhh Tiger baby,
miss you so much and thanks god that you are safe there and that your flight was all right at the end. But see you soon and for now all my love to you both.

I love reading this blog, I can hear your voices!
Shut up! Shut up!
Only choking - keep going, but more often. We’re going to come and see you on our way back around the world. Which will be, er, next December.
